Legacy walk continues to inspire

Poquoson's Run For The Bulls

PEF In Action

Seventeen PEF-managed scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors during Awards Night at  Poquoson High School on June 8, 2017. These scholarships totaled $22,250. Two Academic Excellence Scholarships ($2,500 each) were presented from the general
scholarship fund and an additional $17,250 from designated funds. Congratulations go to these deserving students
Late in October PEF teams up with the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson to hold one of our main fundraising events, Poquoson's Run For The Bulls.  Runners and walker of all ages have the option of a 5k run or 2 mile walk.  There is always a festive air about the event, in part because of the dates falling close to Halloween.  Costumes are welcome as well as baby strollers and dogs.
The Legacy Walk located at Poquoson High School continues to add pleasure and
trigger memories as students, teachers and staff members, graduates, families,
community members and others enter and exit the building. The walkway
was established in the spring of 2010 as a fundraiser for classroom grants and
scholarships. Over seven years later, bricks continue to be sold, and over $22,225
have been raised.

Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Parish

Real Men Read was fun for all at PES and PPS. Held on March 1, nineteen male mentors from the community read a Dr. Suess book in each classroom at the two schools.  Local children's author, Anna Burger, also spent time reading to students. A reception hosted by PEF topped off the morning.  Thanks to Charlie French for organizing the event.   See more photos.
Congratulations and Happy Birthday to PCPS Superintendent, Dr. Jennifer Parish.  Dr. Parish was recently named Region 2 Superintendent Of The Year. She will be a contender for State Superintendent Of the Year in the spring. PEF honored her  with cake and flowers at our January meeting.
