STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM TEACHER MINI-GRANTS
Ninth graders in Lisa Hall’s Earth Science class at Poquoson High School used GPS  units
purchased with a grant from PEF. The students used GPS to find their way
to four different weather stations around the school where they had to answer questions
pertaining to dew point, cloud cover, wind speed, etc.
Afterwards, they returned to class and posted their data on a white board.
As a culminating activity, the students created a weather map.
Dale Rush, instructional technology specialist, assisted with the project.
Photos of the GPS project taken by Mary Earle Stallings can be found here.
