Poquoson's Run For The Bulls
Seventeen PEF-managed scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors during Awards Night at Poquoson High School on June 8, 2017. These scholarships totaled $22,250. Two Academic Excellence Scholarships ($2,500 each) were presented from the general
scholarship fund and an additional $17,250 from designated funds. Congratulations go to these deserving students
Late in October PEF teams up with the Kiwanis Club of Poquoson to hold one of our main fundraising events, Poquoson's Run For The Bulls. Runners and walker of all ages have the option of a 5k run or 2 mile walk. There is always a festive air about the event, in part because of the dates falling close to Halloween. Costumes are welcome as well as baby strollers and dogs.
The Poquoson Education Foundation awarded forty-seven FALL 2017 classroom grants totaling over $17,000. Since spring 2010, a total of $210,000 has been awarded for classroom and school-wide technology needs. Monies raised from PEF's signature fundraisers, the annual fall 5K Run/2-Mile Walk and the Poquoson Yacht Club winter event fund these grants and scholarships. The support and generosity of the community, businesses and organizations are appreciated. Our school supporters are investing in the excellence of Poquoson City Public Schools!
The Legacy Walk located at Poquoson High School continues to add pleasure and
trigger memories as students, teachers and staff members, graduates, families,
community members and others enter and exit the building. The walkway
was established in the spring of 2010 as a fundraiser for classroom grants and
scholarships. Over seven years later, bricks continue to be sold, and over $22,225
have been raised.
